Having Issues Adding School Account to Dated Tablet

[AC Question]

I have an Android tablet running Android 4.1.2 and am having issues adding my school account.

Normal accounts work just fine, and my school account works on my newer phone.

When I try and add it to my tablet, it tells me to go to the browser to sign in, which I do. Then it tells me that it cannot connect to google play servers.

How do I fix this? Preferably without rooting. Thanks.

Your problem may be that the school requires a newer version of Android.
