Battery notifications kill the battery!

When my battery gets low, a popup notification suggests turning off the wi-fi. The problem is, this notification turns the screen on... and stays on! If it's in my pocket and I don't notice, the screen stays on full brightness, draining the battery. A bit ironic for a battery-saver notification.

Any way to turn this off? I wouldn't care except that the screen drains the battery faster than anything useful that the notification suggests even would. I did manage to change the notice to 25 instead of 35%, so at least it has less charge left to waste. However there doesn't seem to be a "go away and don't come back" menu option.

It does seem to be a recent update. I noticed it a couple weeks ago. Pretty sure I would have noticed it beforehand if it was happening.
