Galaxy Tab 2 stopped recognizing USB charge

A

AC Question

I understand that USB does not output enough power to charge a tablet in use, but it used to at least be able to slow the drain on the battery somewhat. So while I had my tablet plugged into my computer with the USB cable, the battery icon displayed the little lightning bolt with a red X through it to indicate that it was receiving power but not enough to actually charge. But recently it has stopped doing that. Now when I plug it in, the battery icon doesn't change, but I do get the "connected as media device" message so I know the cable hasn't gone faulty or anything. I tried looking in settings to see if there was some sort of 'allow USB charging' option that accidentally got un-checked, but not finding anything. Does anyone have any solutions/know what's going on?

Welcome to Android Central! You should still try another cable. It's possible for the charging wires within the cable to fail, while the data transfer wires remain intact.
