My fingerprint sensor not working

I bought this galaxy j7 pro few days and up till now the fingerprint sensors were doing fine. But suddenly it started showing message of 'fingerprint not responding' so I went to settings and tried to delete the fingerprints but it says' an error has occured with your fingerprint and restart it again'. So I restarted it but couldn't get any thing. Then I tried doing the sensor test. But when I try doing the normal scan for the fingerprint sensor it again says 'failed to initialize'. Is it a hardware problem but just a glitch. Guys please help on this. I didn't try resetting it to factory settings because I'm not sure whether is it a hardware problem or a firmware?

🙋I don't think that anyone here can be sure of that either, alas. Try Samsung support: they may be able to tell you which is the more likely.
