Why do my texts messages auto send while headphones are plugged in?

A

AC Question

I am using a ZTE Zmax 2 from AT&T running Android 5.1

When I have headphones plugged in, and attempt to type a text message to someone, a few characters into the text message and the message will automatically send and each letter after will send individually creating multiple texts.

I have also noticed that while using certain application such as teamspeak, things will automatically open up as if I tapped my screen. With teamspeak for example it's always opening my settings.

This only happens while having headphones plugged in, and it's rather annoying since I have to unplug my headphones in order to send a text message.

Does anyone know why this is happening and possibly how to fix it?

I tried googling a solution but I couldn't find anything relating to this.
