So I just got myself a new Samsung Galaxy tab A seven inch. The battery comes partially charged, but should I fully charge it before turning it on? Some people say it'll extend the battery life, but I don't really believe it.

Yes, you should fully charge it first.

That said, Lithium batteries do not have the problem the old NiCad batteries had.

You need to run out of the battery at the first time and then you can charge it. When you charge it full, you can charge one more hour, it is better for your battery.

No. As much as possible do not discharge the battery at all. In fact as much as possible charge it before it even hits 40%.

    Overcharging will also do nothing.

The advice given by SexyLi is about 15yrs outdated. It's applicable to NiMh batteries. We're using Lithium polymers now.
