Just as a note - there is no place called "gallery", Gallery is an app. It shows pictures that are found anywhere on your phone. But they have to be found first. Restarting the phone, or turning it off then turning it on (immediately or the next day doesn't matter) rereads the phone and makes a new list of media files. Or you can run media.Re.Scan any time to redo it.

(Keeping a list of media files saves the device from having to scan the entire phone every time you run a media app. Unfortunately, copying or downloading pictures doesn't trigger a rescan. media.Re.Scan will.)
