Until I updated my Galaxy A5 (2017) recently to Android 7.0/Samsung Experience (TouchWiz) 8.1, I could add and delete app icons, widgets and shortcuts from my Touchwiz homescreen. After the update I can't! I can only move things around from one page to the next. Tapping and holding an item no longer brings up the pop-up menu...

Strangely everything works fine in the secure folder I setup before the update?

Anybody have any idea how I can get this functionality back?

Hello Martin! Welcome to the forums! Do you have animations disabled in the developer options? If so, change the animator duration scale to 0.5x or 1x and see if the problem persists.

    Thanks Javier

    Problem solved.

I had changed Animations setting to disabled for performance reasons, but it looks like TouchWiz programmers (or library compiler) have failed to take this option into account. Well done for spotting it.

It's a pity that the Animations option does not allow a more variable setting. 0.5 is still too long for my taste and as an end user I would prefer it to be scalable down to as close to zero as I can get (without upsetting some apps likeTouchWiz).

So have to enable animations, remove the icon, then re-disable animations. Wow that's stupid. I'm not sure how you figured that out, but thank you!

It seems that the latest update fixed the problem. Take a look.

Install Google App Drawer and all functionality returns
