ive got a samsung anycall android which was working with an nz sim card until i factory reset it now it starts up in a korean network configuration (not just the language) now when i try my sim card it says 'unsupported overseas u-sim detected' and has no service.
am i able to configure it myself to accept nz network providers without usb tethering and rooting the device? Alternatively how much would a tech store charge to do this for me? (NZD)

First, it's probably area-locked - to Asia. And you can't change that. If you bought it in NZ, bring it back to the seller and ask them to either fix it or refund your payment for it. (Even if it's way out of warranty, if they sold you a phone that's supposed to be set to work in NZ, but it's set to work in Asia, that's probably fraud in NZ.

Second, what's the model number (including the last letter)? It's possible, since it's a Samsung, that you can just flash an NZ ROM for that model, and then the seller can do a SIM unlock (or refund your money).
