I have a Nexus 6 running Android 7.1.1. I can't have more than 2 applications open or my phone will slow down to incredible speeds. Took 3 tries to even write this post because I was typing more and a 10 words a minute and the keyboard couldn't keep up. There seems to be no way for me to force close all applications on my phone, I have to go through each one to shut it down. Whenever I switch from one app to another I can hear a clicking from the inside of my phone that sounds like the reader in a hard drive mixed with a floppy reader. It's not coming from the speakers, it's inside the phone itself. Why is this happening? Is there a way I don't know about to mass force close applications?

Welcome to Android Central! You shouldn't have to force close anything. Is the phone rooted or unrooted? Does this happen in Safe Mode as well? https://support.google.com/nexus/answer/2852139?hl=en

Are you backing out of apps when you're finished using them (which is what you should be doing) or just hitting the Home button (which you shouldn't). Backing out closes the app, hitting Home keeps the app running, so after a while you may have 10 apps fighting for the (relatively) small space.
