I have a hotspot device allowing any wifi-capable device to access internet.

The problem is that Android phone, thinking it's on wifi, would download all sorts of data, and blow my monthly data limit of the hotspot quickly.

Is there a way for me to restrict the use of wifi data on Android? I have galaxy s5.

This is at the bottom of my data section in the menu on S8. Does your phone have something similar? Also, any reason why you even need to connect your phone to the hotspot?

There are apps that allow you to restrict your mobile data usage, but not specifically for the hotspot, just for all usage.
