Okay, so I consider myself a seasoned android user. But I have been stricken by a Smart Switch issue.
To date. I have used Smart switch to transfer from and to the following:

From S6 to S7 ( NEW )
From S7 to S8 ( NEW )
From S5 Active to S7 ( NEW )
iPad to Tab3 ( Already in use with Data )

In EACH case above. I have successfully completed the transfer over Smart Switch using an OTG cable.
And shortly after the phone restarts and does a factory reset. But it's a factory reset that would be done from the Android System menu which requires the last gmail account and password to be entered.
Which wasn't an issue as it was known.
But STILL what the HECK is going on? Why is this happening.
I have googled it thinking others would have the same issue, but notta

Thanks for any intel

Can you please confirm the issue.

The Samsung Smart Switch data successfully loads on the new device?

The new device then resets, or the old device resets?

Was the new device already set up with the same Samsung and Google accounts?

Both new and old devices should still retain their Google accounts, which you should be able to then remove in Settings and sell on the older device.

The Data was completed loaded on the fresh out of the box new devices. Also 1 device the tablet already had existing accounts and the data transferred completely, two difference circumstances. Same issue. Safe to unplug cable, blah blah blah. All good.

The NEW devices that had the data transferred from the old devices are what are factory resetting.

So none of the devices except that tablet had Google and Samsung accounts. They were fresh new devices turned on for the first time.

This has nothing to do with selling. The problem is the new devices with the fresh transfer of Data are factory resetting after completed data transfer for no reason what so ever.
Happened everytime for all devices mentioned

Perhaps make this clearer too if you get an answer or start a device thread. I don't understand. If you hadn't entered an account yet ....?

I was VERY clear. I have stated on 2 seperate occasions all devices receiving the transfer were brand new in the box. And the transfers of data all completed ( Which means there is now an ACCOUNT there if the transfer completed )
And then, as clearly stated the devices are all factory resetting after the transfer is complete.
I made complete sense and repeated myself twice in more and more detail. So I am not sure what part you didn't understand and felt the need to state:
"Perhaps make this clearer too if you get an answer or start a device thread"

He quoted the part about Android system menu requiring a password.

I got confused when I reached that part. I was under the impression that right after the transfer, the new phone suddenly reboots and everything is deleted as if nothing transferred. Then that statement came and confused me.

Are you saying that after transferring, it asks your password to reset?

Hey chanchan05

So this has happened each time with multiple devices. But let me break it down to one specifically to make this a little easier to explain.

So let's use my new S8 for example. Received the new S8, brand new, sealed in the box.
Transferred via OTG cable with Smart switch from my S7 to the brand new S8.

All data transferred 100% successful, even received the message to unplug the OTG cable now. All is well, blah blah blah.

Checked the new S8. All is good, apps are there, data is there, gmail account is there, everything looks GREAT!

Restart the phone. And BOOM "Erasing" and when I say it's as if it was done from the Android System Recovery Menu, because after it nukes my entire new phone, it requires the formerly logged in Gmail Password. Sorry for that confusion All I meant was the phone didn't do a Factory Reset from the phone itself it did it as if it was done from the Android System Recovery Menu.

This EXACT issue has now happened on every device I have ever used smart switch with.
And all were to a brand new device in the box, other than the most recent which was an iPAD to and TAB 3 for my Aunt.

Each time, I am forced to do the Smart Switch for a second time, and it works fine after the second time, but always on the first attempt it erases.

Hope that makes things a little more comprehendible.

Cheers

Ah. That makes more sense.

Hmm. That is weird. But then I'd have to say I never tries using wires to transfer via Smartswitch. You could check that route out.

You'd think. That it would be more stable and reliable using the OTG cable.
I don't have one to do at this time, but next time I will try wireless.
I can see it happening once. Fluke, but the fact it's happening every time no matter what the circumstance.
Ugg very annoying and frustrating.
