I have a Samsung Galaxy Tab A 8.0 (SM-T350) tablet that I am building into the dash of my car. I have been able to successfully get audio from the USB port and into a DAC so that it plays on my car stereo, and to charge the tablet simultaneously. The problem that I have now is that when USB is being used for audio out the tablet disables the internal microphone, rendering voice search impossible.

My question: is there a way to get the internal microphone to work while the tablet is sending audio out via USB? If not, do you know if plugging a microphone into the multifunction headphone jack will work? Or a third option, would I be able to insert a hub or splitter downstream from the tablet and route in a USB microphone?

Have you or anyone else tried any of the 3 options or found a work around here?

    Thank you.
