Why do I have no service on my Motorola LG4 phone?

[Android Central Question]

The icon that shows the service bars is an empty triangle, meaning I have no service. I can't call anybody, and nobody can call me. I can't text anybody either (without it sending anyway). I've looked around the forums and I see the occasional recommendation of switching the Network Type to something else, but I'm not sure what kind of effect it would have on my phone, since it's set to "LTE (recommended)" at the moment.

Which phone do you have, the Moto G4 or the LG G4? Is this phone from your carrier or unlocked? What carrier was it originally branded to, and which carrier are you using?
