I am trying to help my friend activate his galaxy s6. It has been factory reset already. When at screen to login, I have tried typing in his Gmail account information. It continues to bring me back to the same screen with a new message breifly across the bottom reading: please enter information from owner account. It was a phone and sim card purchased from previous owner.

You need the account of the previous owner. He didn't turn off FRP before selling.

Without those details you will not be able to proceed further. It’s a security feature.
Under the circumstances, Samsung or Google may be able to help.

Edit: For some reason, you’ve posted twice under different titles, wasting my time. You also posted the second thread after @chanchan05 had answered the first. Threads merged.
