Why backup apps?

Hi i have seen many backup apps the do or dont offer app backups. I want to know why would people want to backup apps? cant they restore them from their google play account when they do a restore?

It’s useful to have your app settings and data backed up so that you can just continue to use the apps as before.

Not all apps backup properly to the Play Account. For example, Subway Surfers only saves your top score. But it won't save all the purchases you made from the coins you earned or your score multiplier. So it's still good to use backup apps.

Very recent case in point. Swift Key just updated a few days ago. The update changes thew skin to something I can't stand, so I tried downloading the skin I prefer. It won't download. I'm about to uninstall Swift Key and install a backed-up version.
