Struggling for space on my Nexus 5x and so checked the storage and turns out 'System' takes up 5.7GB of space. I'm running on the Android 8.0 version. Firstly, is it normal for the system to take up so much space?! If not, how do I free it up again??

Any advice will be much appreciated!!

Welcome. As a point of comparison - "system" on my Nexus 6p running 8.0 consumes 7.7 GB.

    Thanks. I'm the original poster.

So I just need to accept it? No way to reduce it down? Seems ridiculous! Is there any way to downgrade to previous OS?

Welcome to Android Central! That's a normal amount of space for the system. To give you another point of comparison, iOS 11 takes up about 7 GB on an iPhone: New In iOS 11: Check How Much Storage System Takes Up On The Device | Redmond Pie.

You can manually install a previous firmware if you want, but that would also mean less security: https://www.androidcentral.com/how-m...s-android-beta
