Blue R1 Plus message notification app

[Android Central Question]

Why does the little white & black message app on the home screen of my Blu R1 Plus cell phone always say I have 1,2,or 3 message when I've checked all the messages and there are no unread messages on the phone?

Welcome to Android Central! Go to Settings>Apps, tap Menu>Show System, and look for an app called BadgeProvider. Select that and tap Clear Cache/Clear Data.
