Google Play Store constantly crashing

For the last few days whenever I tried to open the app it crashes before I can do anything. The only time it has worked is when I get a notification to update an app.

I saw this mentioned in another thread by a person on the 8.1 developer preview -- are you on it as well?

No. It just started out of the blue. I have a Moto X Pure edition for almost 2 years

Have you already tried clearing the app cache and data for the Play Store in Settings>Apps​?

Yup twice. I also tried updating to the newest version

force stop Google play services and then ear cache

Try donwload directy the latest apk for play store, playstoredownload.blog you nead acces to root.

Try this. Hold the power button for a couple of seconds and then long press the 'Power off' text.

Will that effect my settings when I go back to normal mode?

No, it won't affect any personal information or change in your phone. It just disable all third party apps that you downloaded and they will be automatically restored when you restart the phone.

In some phones it could remove some specific widgets from your home screen and you'd need to add them back.

Booted in safe mode, play store worked, rebooted normally and play store worked. Thanks for all the help, wish I knew what happened.

Glad everything is working fine! Who knows what happened, most likely something got stuck and the safe mode (or even just the reboot) was enough to fix the problem.

Keep in mind I'm having other problems with my Moto X Pure edition, the battery is shot and I'm still waiting for nougat. I just figured it was related to that
