Why do my apps keep crashing?

I have a Moto X Play with Android version 6.0.1 and for the last couple of weeks, the apps seem to be crashing every other day (or twice a day sometimes). I open an app, and it crashes with the message "Unfortunately, x app stopped working" I tried this with a few apps, nothing, even the built in camera was doing it.

So I restarted my phone, and that does work, temporarily, the same thing happens again a couple of days later. I've even tried uninstalling apps I thought was causing the problem.

Is this a problem with my phone or my SD card? If anyone knows how to resolve this, please let me know as it is a major inconvenience. Thank you

Welcome to the forums. Have you recently received the Nougat update? I'd recommend you to wipe the cache partition from recovery, clear all your cached data from settings -storage and then restart the phone. Tell us how it goes.
