Just bought one on Virgin Mobile and it gets rid of one touch viewer where I can control what content comes on and installs Joy Viewer instead but that app is terrible. As well as having no content control it also downloads lots of random rubbish to the phone and spoils other apps I enjoy using. Joy Viewer has also had hundreds of negative reviews on Google Play as I was reading. If I do a factory restore is there any way I can stop Joy Viewer from installing?

If it’s a pre-installed app, factory resetting will not remove it. You may be able to Disable it in Settings, Apps, All, after Clearing Cache, Clearing Data, and Force Stopping.

If it’s not pre-installed, some other third-party app may be responsible, in which case, you’ll have to get rid of that as above, except Uninstall rather than Disable.
