I finally convinced my girlfriend to switch to android and so far she likes her choice. But one thing that she doesn't like is how some apps show notifications silently regardless of the app settings. I never really noticed this problem since i don't care for having my phone go off all the time, but she noticed instantly since she was used to her iPhone which played a sound and showed a banner for every notification. So what I'm wondering is: is there a way to force a notification to play a sound? Some apps don't have this option within them, and the only global notification options i can find are for silencing or blocking for each app. Would i need to root to solve this?

Hmm. I know that you can use Lightflow to sound a notification for every app you add to its setup. But depending on the number of apps it could get tedious to setup.
