We have several Moto g3 phones in the family but 1 has not updated to Android 6. Could it be because it is a 8GB model and all the others are 16GB? When buying it we assumed it would be updated so the SD card could be used as internal storage. It is now getting short of space despite having very few apps installed. Cache has to be cleared regularly to allow app updates.

It could be because an 8GB phone released over 2 years ago isn't going to get any more updates. It costs Lenovo to rewrite the updates, and evidently they don't want to spend that on a bottom of the line model of the G3.
