where are my ringtone downloads

i use zedge with my new lg q6
if i download a ringtone and save to device I cant see it in my list of rintones even though it is showing as saved in my zedge ringtone file when viewed on my pc. however if i use set ringtone it then appears on my list as a saved ringtone, but it changes the default ringtone to the new download and I then need to change the default ringtone back to the original I use and select the new ringtone with contacts I need it to work with etc. How can I download and save ringtones to just appear in my list on the phone?

You can't unless you rewrite the Zedge app. The app stores to its own folder. You have to do what you've been doing. (Ringtones should be in the Ringtones folder in internal storage [although I have an mp3 folder on my SD card, and Alarms, Notifications and Ringtones folders in that, and I put the various sound files in them].)
