I need to use BLE with a certain device however the Nexus 7 only has bluetooth version 3 (It's on Timur's USB Rom / Cyanogenmod 10.1 / Android 4.2.

I would like to know if I can use a Bluetooth USB adapter with Nexus 7 2012 or upgrade the Bluetooth adapter?

I can't upgrade software as this is installed in my car and the USB Rom caters for what I need.

Normally, USB Bluetooth adapters require drivers, and no one supplies Android or Snapdragon (or Exynos) drivers for them, since phones come with Bluetooth, so probably not. That's one of the problems when you stick to an old phone. (I'm still on my Note 3, and there are some things I just can't do.)
