When I find an app at the play store, it tells me that it's compatible with some of my devices (in my case it's my tablet), so I click "Install", agree to the permissions, and get the message that it will be downloaded to my device shortly. But after quite a while, it doesn't show up on my tablet. If I go back to the play store, it shows that app as "Installed", and now says it's not compatible with any of my devices. Bottom line is that I can't get the app.

Can you find the app listing from the Play Store on the device? Does it say there that it's installed (indicated by there not being an "install" button but an "open" button and an "uninstall" button).

By "doesn't show up", are you expecting it to appear on your home screen? Have you checked your main list of apps?
