Why is my sound turning itself off.

When I listen to music or watch videos the sound turns all the way down and I have to turn it back up. It happens with headphones in and out. I'm not touching the sound or anything. And it's only with media. It doesn't effect my ringtone. I have a Samsung J3

Welcome to Android Central! The Vol Down button might be stuck in a pressed state, or intermittently getting stuck.

Try the following -- power off the phone, then power back on by pressing and holding Power and Home together. Does it go into Download Mode, as shown here? Enter Download Mode on Samsung Galaxy J3 (2016) [How To] - Tutorial / Guide. If so, that would suggest the Vol Down button is stuck, because to get into Download Mode, you have to press and hold Power, Home, and​ Vol Down.
