I save my contacts to my email so I never lose them. However, my phone likes to delete that account leaving me with missing contacts.
    It's a Samsung S6.
I have two other emails hooked up but have saved everything to the one that keeps disappearing.

If the numbers were entered as Google numbers (the top pulldown on the New Contact screen), they're at Google Contacts. If they're missing there, click More, then Restore contacts ... and you can restore contacts deleted during the last month.

If they were entered as Phone, Device or SIM contacts, they're gone and you'll have to re-enter them. (This time link them to your Google account.)
