upgrade my tablet from 4.4.2 to 6 (or 7)

Is there some way I can upgrade my tablet from 4.4.2 Kit Kat to a newer release of Android, such as 6 or 7? It's a Proscan PLT7100G. I presume it would have to be "rooted" first and I haven't quite figured out how to do that yet.

The problem with the less common devices is two-fold.

1- As you've found, the manufacturer rarely updates the device
2 - 3rd-party support for the device is minimal The most popular site where you'll find this (XDA) doesn't have a forum specifically for this device so that route is unlikely.

IF you could find a ROM for a newer OS on that device, you're most likely only going to find up to Marshmallow (Android 5), 6 or 7 is very unlikely.
