Because according to the way it's been done since 1969 - the sequence has always been bottom up. Oh, it could be written your way, but I don't know of any app that has been written that way. (You're free to write one - the tools to develop an Android app are free and the tutorials to learn how to develop an app are free.)

But "should be at the bottom" is the opposite of hat we've been doing since before ARPANET joined a couple of other networks to become the internet.

Turn on the timestamps for the messages and see if there is a clock problem somewhere.

Which phone?
Which version of android?
Which carrier?
Which SMS app?
Does this happen for all contacts or just one?
