Why does my Galaxy S8 not fast charge?

[Android Central Question]

When I plug my Galaxy S8 into a fast charger it will fast charge for a brief moment before changing to cable charging. In addition I've already checked the settings and fast charging is on, I've also started in safe mode and it does the same thing. I am using the original cable and a fast charge car plug and the original fast charger that came with the phone.
