I get 4 messages from a telco that I used to use every time I turn on my phone, even though the SIM card is not installed now.

I uninstalled my message app and installed a new one, but still get those messages. I cleared Data, cleared Cache but I still get the messages!

It's really annoying so I'd like to know where they are stored on the system and how the message app gets them.

The message app gets them over the air, like a phone call. Whichever app is your default message app gets them the same way.

They're stored in a database file (that you can't get to unless thew phone is rooted, and you can't manipulate unless you're pretty familiar with SQL). Try deleting the 4 individual messages, in the message app, one at a time.
