Unable to connect to dashcam threw Wi-Fi

[Android Central Question]

I have a thinkware f800 dash cam that worked with no problems with my previous iPhone . With my note 8 it says Internet may not be available and it won't let me access my dashcam app . My previous phone I could connect threw a hotspot or Wi-Fi to my dashcam . My note 8 connects to my house Wi-Fi no problem but again it won't let me connect to my dash cam any help would be appreciated

Do you have tethering turned on and operating? Evidently, the camera has to connect to some router (which tethering turns the phone into).
