How do I show which apps i have open? (Samsung Galaxy Note 4)

On my Samsung Galaxy Note 4 I used to be able to see my open apps by long holding the home button. However, I accidentally changed a setting so that Google Assistant would open when I pressed it instead. To return to how it was, I uninstalled the Google app, but the long hold to show my open apps has not returned. How do I restore this function?

Check settings for the button config. Just go through the menus until you find it.

Those are recently used apps - not all of them may still be in RAM or, if they are, running. There are apps that can tell you which apps are currently loaded but asleep, and which apps are currently running. SystemPanelLite is one of them.
