LG K8 "USB device not recognised"

[Android Central Question]

My LG K8 was working fine but after downloading some music through Apple Music i now cannot connect it to my PC by USB. The PC (and other laptop i've tried it on) will not recognise the phone. It will charge but not offer file transfer. I've tried different cables and downloading the drivers on PC again.
Any thoughts would be great.

Welcome to Android Central! When you connect via USB and swipe down the notification panel, do you see a USB icon? If so, what do you see when you tap it?

Does it work in Safe Mode? How to turn on safe mode on Lg K8

Thanks foe your reply. There is nothing on the notification bar. It beeps when i connect the USB but only charges the phone. I cannot see the phone in Windows Explorer. I haven't tried safe mode. Will give it a go.

Can you confirm that the cables you've tried work for other devices for data transfer? I ask this because some cables are only for charging, not data transfer.

If all cables do this, then it's possible there's a problem with the phone's microUSB port. Use a can of compressed air to blow out any debris that might be in there. The port might have to be replaced if it still doesn't work.
