Hi I just talked to Samsung for a hardware issue of my Galaxy. They told me to ship my phone to the repair center but be aware that Samsung repair center always wipe devices sent for security (what???) reasons. This is quite crucial to me as I have some apps installed on my phone whose data cannot be backed up. I honestly felt this is a non-sense as I am just asking for a hardware repair which should not involve any access to my storage in the first place.

Did you guys get your phone wiped after getting it repaired? Is there a way for me to get my phone repaired without getting it wiped? Any advice on that?

    Thanks

Yes, I'd question that too. They tell people that they need to wipe data to replace screens etc... A load of crap! I have to wonder if they snoop around and that's why they have to wipe it.. Call me a cynic...

I think it's just protocol so if ever they do need to wipe it, the customer is warned. Then they just went about wiping everything anyway.

As for apps that can't be usually backed up, have you tried Helium?
