Welcome to Android Central! Try long-pressing the Menu, Home, or Back buttons to see if that brings up the Recent Apps list. You can swipe apps away there, which effectively closes them out of RAM. On most Android devices, you shouldn't have to do that, because the system should be able to intelligently manage RAM on its own. But your phone has only 512 MB of RAM, which is extremely small by today's standards, so manually closing apps might help, at least temporarily. Remmber, though, that even if you frequently close apps out of RAM, performance is generally going to be poor.
