Switching between and closing apps without buttons

[Android Central Question]

Installing a Galaxy Tab 4 10.1 tablet in my car. The kit to insert it in the dash covers the home button as well as the other two. Is there a way to switch and close apps with gestures like on the Ipad? Would need to use music/maps/email and youtube apps without pressing any physical buttons to exit or switch between them.
