The phone is sold with 64GB and has expandable micro sd memory of 256GB so algebra word problems tell me that total capable memory is 320 GB. Is this truly and in reality what this device is capable of?

I have a 200 GB card in one of my devices, but when I check available storage, it reports as 183 GB. Always expect a little bit less than what's reported on the package.

Normally, storage capacities are reported by the marketing department as the raw storage abilities. Unfortunately, you usually need to put a file system onto the card/drive, and the file system does take up some space.

Uh, that is not true for any device at all you buy. You try to buy a laptop with 1 terabyte hard drive and you'll see that you can't use all 1TB.

Same as with phones. Sure it has a 64GB module, but up to 10GB of that is unusable for you.
