So I dropped my Samsung Galaxy S7 today and it worked fine half the morning. Then it randomly went out. The screen is black but the LED light at the top and the buttons on the bottom light up. I went through the process of hard restarting it with the volume + power button and the screen comes on when it's booting up. As soon as it gets to where the lock screen would be, it goes black again. I had a glass screen protector on it and it was cracked but the actual screen is not. Fixable or screen replacement?

Welcome to Android Central! When the screen is black, does it still make sounds or vibrations? If you call the phone while the screen is black, does it ring?

It does still make sounds and vibrates. When someone calls I can answer through bluetooth but the screen stays black. I can even open up the camera app and take pictures.

It can boot into Safe Mode but the only way I can tell is from opening the camera app. I can change a few settings from the drop down drawer from there. It doesn't seem to shot down properly.

I fixed it. Since it wouldn't power off properly, I had to wait for the battery to die. Once it died I connected my charger and pressed the button combination (UP volume + Power + Home Button). I cleared the cache in Recovery Mode and did a graphics check then rebooted. It booted perfectly and no black screen. Thank you so much for the help!

Great, glad you fixed it! It's a little puzzling to me how a drop would've caused this -- I wonder if that was a coincidence. Also, in the future, if you want to force a shutdown without waiting for the battery to drain, pressing Power and Vol Down for about 20 seconds should do the trick.
