Why do the notification dots/badges not go away when I open apps in Microsoft Launcher

I have a Pixel 2XL and I am using the latest version of Microsoft Launcher with notification dots enabled. Notification dots show up by my various apps, such as Facebook or a news app. But after I open those apps and go through my new feeds in those apps, the notification dots neither disappear nor reduce the number shown in those dots. How do I get the dots to disappear after looking through the new content in those apps while using Microsoft Launcher?
