Android Central Question

My S5 Mini SM-G800F won't stay registered on a network, it registers initially but after a few seconds drops to 'Emergency calls only' with the notification that the selected network is unavailable. The sim works in other phones. It's an unlocked phone, using a different network sim produces the same result. Bought it secondhand just over a month ago and it's been fine up to to a couple of days ago, done a hard factory reset but the issue remains.
Ideas for a fix?

Reinstalling the firmware hasn't helped.

It's a strange problem, it's connected for emergency calls as there is full signal strength showing, it just won't actually register to a network.

Almost definitely a problem with the SIM port. (It's not common on Samsungs, but it happens.) And the only fix is to have the port replaced. Considering the price for the work, and the fact that you can usually get a decent one on Swappa for less, it probably doesn't pay. (Planned obsolescence?)
