Why does my samsung J3 not alert me when a new call is coming through?

When I am on a call I do not know if someone else has tried to call me.

Welcome to Android Central! If someone calls you while you're on another call, do you hear a little beep, or see a notification for Call Waiting? If not, open the Phone app, tap Menu>Settings>Call Settings, and look for the Call Waiting option -- make sure it's turned on. If you can't find the option, or if it's already on, contact your carrier and see if they can help.
