Getting ads on home screen

Hey. I'm getting random video or photo ads anytime while doing something on my phone. Also after unlocking it from stand-by. I downloaded only one app from website(which I deleted already and still getting ads) and the rest is from Play store. I tried Malwarebytes to find malware but app said phone is clean. Hope you will help me. Thanks

Welcome to Android Central! What website was it? Was it an apk file? It's not a good idea to install apps that way, since websites with apk files usually don't vet them for malware. But even so, apps from the Play Store can have ads, since they're technically not malware, so you may just have to uninstall apps one by one until the problem goes away. If it doesn't, then a factory reset would be the next step, then reinstalling apps one by one carefully.
