I had multiple iPhones connected to my Toyota RAV4 and never had an issue with Bluetooth phone calls. Since I bought my Pixel 2, I have to use the speaker phone because it is nearly impossible to hear the person I am talking to. When I switch from BlueTooth to speaker, the quality is fine, so it isn't the connection to the other caller. I can play music via BlueTooth, so the connection to the car also seems to be fine.

    Any Suggestions?

It's probably either the volume control on the Pixel turned down (you have to be in a phone call for the volume to control to control the volume of phone calls) or a defective Pixel (which would be unusual). I have no problems in phone calls with my Pixel 2 on the car's Bluetooth.

Welcome to Android Central! First, on the phone, go to Settings>Bluetooth, tap the gear icon next to the car system, and make sure Phone Audio is turned on. Next, as Rukbat mentioned, make sure the volume on the phone is turned up.
