I recently installed the latest update and now my Voicemail is constantly running in the background as is the Mobile Installer. I force stop it which gets rid of it for a second, but it almost immediately pops back up. I have turned off the capability for it to run in the background, but it still does it. It is so annoying! Does anyone have a solution? I have already tried turning the phone off and back on and that did not work.

Welcome to Android Central! Which phone? Is it a Visual Voicemail app? Are you talking about a system update, or an update to the Voicemail app?

I have 2 HTC 10 devices, and both of them are doing the same thing after updating to 3.18.651.3. Very annoying and I have the same results as listed above when trying to close the apps--they just reopen. For me, it's both Voicemail (Android version you can't delete) and Mobile Installer.

Had the same thing after update. Cleared voicemail data and cache, then voicemail updated and all seems to be fine. You'll lose all your voicemails...

Natedogg42, thank you for that suggestion! Applied that to both of my HTC phones and it appears to be working great now even though AppStack crashed after updating the app upon reset. The stuck notifications are gone, at least.

This is what worked for me:

Click the notification, in the app settings click data storage, click clear cache first, then click clear data.

I noticed a mobile installer notification, I had to redo the voicemail setup, and it went away.

Thanks for the tip! So annoying
