    Make sure your messaging app has access to your contacts list:

    Go to Settings->Apps
    Scroll until you locate your messaging app, then tap on it
    Tap “Permissions”
    Ensure that “Contacts” is enabled

    Welcome to Android Central! Also, make sure those contacts are in your Contacts app, and that the phone number that you saved matches the one they're texting from -- including the presence or absence of a country code.
