I went through the proccess on the App button to download the uber app. It resulted in a "done" signal, presumably meaning it is downloaded. However, there is no Uber icon on my home page. I've googled that problem and been told to open the App icon (circle with dots) to get the app menu. That icon is not there either. How do I get it up?

What phone/device? On my Pixel 2 XL, I have to swipe up to get the full list of apps.

If you find your Settings app and look in the apps section there do you see the Uber app as installed?

Downloading doesn't install the app on the phone. Installing from Play does. If you just download the .apk file, you have to run that file to install the app (tap the file in a file manager).
