So. My friend used my phone to check her email. I removed the account after she was finished (went to Settings: Accounts: Google: clicked her email account: clicked three dots in the upper right: clicked Remove Accounts. Thought that was it. Still, when I go into Gmail, the icon for her account is still there and the name of her account is still on the drop down list.

However, under Settings: Account: Google: only my account shows.

If her account was removed, why can I still see her account name and icon on my Gmail app even if it's gone in Settings?

    Thanks in advance.

Welcome to Android Central! Try going to Settings>Apps, select Gmail, and Clear Cache/Clear Data. Then open Gmail again and see if it's only your account now.

In the future, instead of letting a friend add their entire Google account to your phone to check email, tell them to use the Gmail web interface on Chrome.
