what is GMS and why use it? I suspect this has something to do with it.

My husband is a programmer and is always busy on our cell phones developing apps and other things ,pcs and laptops but every time he uses my phone i get these strange notifications saying i have voicemail without ever getting a phone call. Why is this happening?

GMS is Google Mobile Services. As for the VM notifications without actual voicemails, ask your husband if he can please stop triggering them. He could be doing something having to do with GMS or t could be something else completely. (He may even have written an app that's running in the background of his phone or PC that was supposed to trigger it once, he accidentally put in your number instead of his and, since he's not getting the notifications, he isn't aware that it's still running, causing notifications. [I've been that route more than once. I still have a background app running in my phone that I'm trying to kill.])
